Solution was just to flip the connectors. Now everything works as it should. I love the sound, vintage on steroids. These DiMarzio '60 pickups worth the money. And hussle😁. Bonus: pic of almost completed work. Knobs are waiting for some better times when linear taper pots come in place.

Colors are soldered right way, but the connectors were upside-down relative to the pickups. The only way to connect them properly to the pickup is to swap them. But that means everything on the harness that upper half of pickup was supposed to be connected to will be connected to the lower...

True. In case I did mess up which side of connector faces pickup, it means I must de-solder and redo everything.

I understand the point for connectors, I was following the color scheme and didn't pay attention to which side are little holes facing. There is nothing about it in the instructions. I don't know why DiMarzio is getting things complicated. It took me some time to figure out how to mount pickups...

Yes, both pickups are on, tested with screwdriver. Clearly make pop. Actually both pickups sound less loud and thinner when both rolled up all the way. If I roll back 5% either of them volume comes back. Below 95% pots behave as expected for audio tapers: almost nothing happening until 50%...

Unfortunately I haven't taken pic during installation. I followed original DiMarzio scheme and have thoroughly checked after the job was done. Everything seems ok.

Thanks, I will definitely take this advice. I am expecting exactly that, nothing more from J pup but to add it's signature to P sound. That said, I wouldn't like to put together the harness that brighten overall pickups performance, but also not one that would darken everything.

Thanks for reply. I personally lean towards softer and rounder sound on P, but PJ should be able to let J pickup bring in it's character if we desire so by setting the knobs position. Dimarzio recommends 500k/500k/250k and .33nF, but those couple of reviews I have seen and listened, authors...
