Carvin basses are good quality, and an excellent value. The bypassable active preamp is something every active bass mfg should include. The active pre sucks tone, but adds versatility. Being able to use the pre or the straight pickup tone is a real nice option.
Avoid Carvin amps. They sound just OK, and are not built to last.
The Aguilar 212 cab is killer--highly recommended.
