Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Thanks @Methaneman, this is as the brdige PU sounds like, just added some compression with the Cali76 CB pedal for a tighter tone before going into the audio interface and I'm very satisfied with the result.

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Just a quick follow-up after a few months with my '78 Yamaha BB2000. My initial positive impressions are 100% confirmed—this bass is an absolute powerhouse. I wanted to share a quick video clip focusing on a funk context. For this one, I went strictly with the bridge pickup soloed, tone rolled...

    New Tech 21 XB Driver

Been messing around with this pedal for a week now, and I’m seriously satisfied by the distorted tones I can pull out of it for my metal band. I’m also running it in series with my main preamp, a Jad Freer Capo, and the sheer amount of sonic options I have available now is so good. It goes...

    Downsides/Cons of Headless Basses?

Hi @Michael Vee and @JLockerman, thanks for your interest. Here are the specs for my Biarnel Scorcio: it weighs 3.3 kg and features a chambered roasted alder body, a striped ebony top, and an ebony fretboard. The neck is a multi-ply construction made of maple, makoré, maple, makoré, and...

Jad Freer Audio - CAPO multiple preamp

This is my CAPO preamp, currently on my pedalboard, which I’ve been using lately both to cover heavier, more distorted tones with a thrash metal project and more classic rock-oriented tones with a cover band. Ever since I installed it, I honestly couldn’t live without it anymore. I’m also...

    Downsides/Cons of Headless Basses?

Whenever headless basses come up in a discussion, I can’t help but mention Biarnel. I strongly recommend checking them out — they’re handcrafted by an Italian luthier, incredibly ergonomic, and they sound fantastic. I hope this video gives you a good overview — and please forgive the playing! 😄

    new Biarnel Headless bass

I know this is a very old discussion, but for those still wondering the Scorcio line is made of excellent lightweight basses and still being produced by Biarnel with many customization options. This is mine, realized the past year and here being test in a funk-rock context

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

@ToddB1963 Thanks for the feedback, really appreciated, I've read your posts on the BB2000 with great interest before deciding to pull the trigger on this model. In my video both pickups are fully open, and the tone pot is wide open as well. After about three months of use the ProSteels have...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Hi there, Here is my "new" 1978 Yamaha BB2000 on a test drive with a metal track. In this video it mounts a set of 3-month played D'addario PRO Steel strings. The signal chain includes a Cali76 CB compressor, a Jad Freer Capo preamp and a Jam Bass Rattler set for a light distortion. I'd be...

[SAMPLES INSIDE] Music Man Sterling 5 H

I agree with your view, slap in parallel mode is definitely a killer sound! Btw, I still have to completely understand how, and if, to use the pickup selector middle position, it looks more like a solos sound (which I generally don't do). PS: I've originally put two pics in my first post...
