Can EUB's be bowed? If so, when they are bowed are they still quiet? Trying to figure out a way to practice my arco when my neighbors are asleep. If I could play arco relatively quietly and through headphones that would be dope. If this is a really stupid question I apologize in advance.

I'll try to keep it short: I've got a friend who plays cello and who's getting into jazz and he's got mad chops but he's clueless when it comes to feeling anything but straight 8ths. Any suggestions on how to help him?
