The AI is not neutral at all ! Connect a CD player to the AI's input and you will immediatly notice the hard midrange. It's possible to make it better with some EQ tweaking but still... Like "Mr Sidecar" wrote ; Phil Jones Briefcase is a better choice. That amp is really HIFI ! Schertler...

It's possible ! A friend of mine plays his DB over a SVT and a 8X10 cab. His bass is a german ply (probably Höffner), he uses a very cheap Shadow SH950 pickup and on old Fishman preamp. That's it ! I'm not shure about the strings but the acoustic tone of the bass is... uhum... PLY. High...

Thanks nimbleswitch ! I'm starting to love it more and more :) Hey, my previous bass was a large-shouldered one, so that was making the "ugly" one look so strange in the beginning. I have to admit that the small shouders are feeling more confortable and it makes me move into TP more easily...

Hey Massimo, you must be kidding ! Do you remember where you saw it because it's for sale in the Netherlands at Jürgen Preyer's shop. He is young but becoming one of the best luthiers over there. A no nonsense guy that delivers exceptional good work. You live in Paris so it's hard to believe...

That's exactly how it looks like, "a big bottomed woman" !!! But hey, i'm convinced OK ? I was working and playing the bass all day long here at home. The more positive reactions you guys post, the more I like the bass ! She stays, that's for sure !!!

Do you guys never just sit and LOOK at your bass that's standing in the corner of your room ? Well, I sometimes love to sit down and enjoy my bass just looking at -for example- the beautifull scroll or the shape of the body... But i agree, sound and playability are the most important.

I'm starting to like it more and more just because most of you say nice things about my baby :D But seriously... Put this bass in the hands of someone who plays a panormo-shaped bass and he will be laughing at it, it's just about "getting used to" and personal preference ofcourse. It's good...

It's from an unknown maker but it's German (saxony) although it has some French characteristics... (the previous owner - a well known Dutch jazz doublebassist - thought it was French...) The top table is quite thick and stiff. It produces a bit nasal tone but the sustain is incredible and...

The "looker" is as ugly (if not uglier !) as the bass, so I thought to compensate for that with a beautifull piece of wood in front of me. LOL !!!
