    A difficult decision, help needed.

There is of course one option I’d not considered, the Atelier Baby Z J bass. I’ve been liaising with Danny at Bass Japan Direct and can get one with the active pre amp shipped to my door for around £900.

Looks like it’s going to be the SS stingray in Toluca lake blue. I can’t get a natural finish Warwick corvette SS and definitely don’t want a black bass. Had been considering a Maika chilli beans bass on eBay but not confident/comfortable parting with a considerable amount of cash and distance...

I have tried a cat bass, funnily enough the lady who I bought my sire from has one, along with a Sandberg Florence. The cat bass is really nice but I don’t think it’s what I’m after for the music I play. Oh, forgot to say, I’m UK based which makes trying things like Reverend basses...

I was also considering the Sentinel.

Thanks mate. The only thing that puts me off the Warwick is the colour I.e you have a choice of black, black or erm, black. The Retrovibe bass does look cool doesn’t it? It’s also got the ‘77 stinger pre amp, so there’s lots of potential with it. From what I’ve heard David’s basses are great...

I have tried the GB fusion SS, quite a nice little bass.

I slap the s**t out of my sire on a regular basis 😁. Having seen Lobsters review of the Stingray SS, and having quite literally just parted ways with my full scale Stinger, a short scale version my just be the ticket.

Evening all, I have a difficult decision to make and I could do with your help. I am in the market for a new short scale, budget around £900. I already have a Sire U5 so I’ve got the PJ side of things covered. My plan is a good quality bass with rounds, then I’ll put flats on the sire. My...

    Short scale options

Thanks for this TeeSee. Having had my Sire U5 a couple of weeks I’ve barely played my full scale basses and find the shorter scale infinitely more comfortable/useable for my needs. I’m looking at his site regularly and am drawn to the thundercaster and also the Little Richard short scale, which...

    Short scale options

Merry Christmas gang, does anyone happen to know what size machine heads/tuners are on a factory fit Sire U5? I need to upgrade them as the standard fit are flipping awful! I’ve emailed Sire and wait a response, and I’ve tried searching online but can’t find those specific details anywhere. TIA

    Short scale options

Right, my lack of patience coupled with a U5 at a good price local to me got the better of me. I now have my short scale.

    Short scale options

Thinking more in depth about short scale options as my main bass, the Sire U5 seems perfect. I play funk/soul in the main so the facility of PJ is ideal. I’ve got thr stingray for anything else requiring a little more zing. Tone demos look great, build quality looks awesome, and it won’t...

But on the plus side it’s only a 30” scale and I’m a strong lad 😁
