I believe Fender have stopped making some models in the the Squier Vintage Modified series. I have been trying to buy a Butterscotch Maple VM Precision but they are out of stock here in Australia. Fender told my local dealer they've stopped making certain colours. Dang! I think they're pushing...

Battery all good, fairly new and still reading green on battery tester.

An intermittent crackling noise is coming out of my Fender MM, it seems to be happening more frequently. It's not the instrument lead because I have plugged a few leads in including my best one which I gig with, and the same thing happens. The noise happens even when the bass is perfectly still...

+1 . Did a local Christmas carols gig the other night using my Roadworn P IV - after doing a covers gig the week before with Lakland V. Comfortable with both. You do get used to the switching. I love the flexibility and tonal range of different basses, including between four and five string. :)

Just received a Lakland 55-02 35" scale - 22 frets- ( second 35" now) a couple of weeks ago, no problems. Wow I didn't even know you could get 24 frets. was that a fiver?
