    Stompbox Electronics repair tales..

Based upon what generally were stellar recommendations, I've had a not-so stellar experience with this vendor. You would think that an experienced shop would question the customer on what the toggle switches of as pedal are supposed to do, or at a minimum, use the internet to research (YouTube...

Tube Gain pot on a SVT3-PRO

Tube Gain pot on a SVT3-PRO

Any response, really. I've read that you have to push the amp for the Tube Gain to react. I'm using one 8 ohm cab, and playing at a "moderate" volume. So my question was can tube selection (and placement) cause the Tube Gain to react at lower volumes.

Tube Gain pot on a SVT3-PRO

I am wondering if a tube swap would change the "Tube Gain" control response on my SVT3-PRO. I've rolled the tubes when I bought it (decent quality, not necessary hot/aggressive). Does anyone know which tube sockets have the greatest influence on the Tube Gain control?

    SVT3Pro Bias Setting

Let the amp warm up for several minutes before testing. Be patient on each resistor - some would fluctuate ±4 mV while some only ±1 mV. I had to take notes then put it into a spreadsheet 😫

    SVT3Pro Bias Setting

So, how I set my MOSFET bias (and perhaps unnecessarily complicate it, not unusual for me) was to measure each resistor in each column of four (looking front to back of the chassis). [Caveat: knowing what I know now, and starting out with resistors measuring 0.0 to 0.1 mV, I’ll pick one...

Thanks, that clarifies it for me. BTW, is that schematic available on the internet? (please DM me if you prefer.)

    SVT3Pro Bias Setting

I have a question about V4 & V5... On the preamp board, the sockets are labelled J9/V1, J10/V2 and J11/V3. On the power board, they are only labeled J12 (closest to the front panel) and J11 (closest to the rear panel). So is J12 - V5 and J11 - V4?

The previous owner already did a tube swap: he included the five "old ones"?

    SVT3Pro Bias Setting

I found at the start that mine was already at 0.0 to 0.1 mV. So I took someone's advice (or ignorance) and turned the trim pot counterclockwise first - then worked my way uo My bad... untrained ears. :-(
