just wanted to update this thread, jerrold's pdf's were a huge help to my tech and my amp is back to normal, loud and reliable. if you're having this problem feel free to contact me for those pdf's!

well, mines a SLM version. lets hope that info is useful to my tech. im gonna open my speaker up soon and see what i can see. this issue did appear shortly after i replaced a speaker, so even if it's the right speaker maybe it's loose or something.

I must just be wrong about how they are wired. I contacted ampeg, who told me my cab took 10" 100 watt 4 ohm speakers.

its an ampeg svt-410hlf, which as far as i know is parallel 4Ω. i didnt think to try my head with another cab. im gonna do that and see what happens, i guess
