    Strange Vantage Bass

Not so far... My friend didn't say how much it cost but kinda hinted around $20CAD. That said, it's in need of cleaning, but I haven't dismantled it yet. Too many projects so may take a while. I have fun doing more work on this stuff than it's worth, so might refinish it, satin black with a...

    Strange Vantage Bass

Old thread but, just got this same bass. Friend saw it cheap in auction locally and grabbed it for me. P-Bass, same neck/logo and has a pickgaurd. Identical to the OP except mine is all black with a white nut. Looking for info about it myself, and most I can find is late '90s model. But... if...

    Guyker, Fleor, Wilkinson Tuners

Not yet... spent my "allowance" on pots, wiring, jacks, etc instead because I have the bass and 2 other guitars I am replacing the guts in. Then got distracted by a dead fuel pump in my truck. Sigh.

    Guyker, Fleor, Wilkinson Tuners

Yes, Kaynes and Guyker seem to be the same thing with different labels. Look good and solid but looks can be deceiving. The Fender ones says that it's what's used on "Highway One, American Special, American Deluxe, Blacktop and Standard series basses" Mine's a Squier P-Bass, but I do own a...

    Guyker, Fleor, Wilkinson Tuners

Not really... about the same price (within $10)... sometimes stock isn't great and sometimes lesser known brands aren't that bad. Fleor and Guyker have been around quite a few years. Just curious if anyone who has used them (ie. @bholder) liked them or not.

Some people upgrade Fender tuners... albeit usually Gotoh or Hipshot, pricier ones... any idea if stock Fender is better/worse that the Guyker type? Gotta assume the Guyer's and similar are probably cheap zinc-alloys, but Fender isn't always that great either.

Are Fender tuners any good? Just realized that Fender (0036400049) tuners are exactly the same price as Guyker... About $45CAD.

    Guyker, Fleor, Wilkinson Tuners

I have a 2000 Squier Infinity P-Bass. Not much of a bassist, just something to play around with. Ended up sanding it, refinishing it deep dark green, brown tortoise pickguard, new pots, jack, and had a lot of recommendations for Fleor pickups. Recreated the Squire logo in a 70s style, painted...

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Yes, but wrong dimension. As shown in the image in the original post I'm talking about the width, not the length (distance between screws).

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Yup...cheap guitar, and doubt Fender parts are much better for stuff like this. Also CANADA... so, fewer places to buy them from unless I want to pay what they're worth for shipping plus duty fees. Sucks because it means the few places here that sell Fender stuff, up the prices as well. Usually...

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Well, clear is ready for wet sanding and levelling... Hoping this weekend maybe. Headstock I have a pic handy of. Basically print a waterslide decal mirrored, then with a tiny brush used antique white and a magnifying glass to paint in the white. Trick is to make the outlines thick enough to...

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Looking on ebay, seems everyone selling the cheap ones has jbass listed as pbass... Looking at the width/height ratio. It's for a cheap Squier that I refinished metallic dark green, tortoise guard, matched headstock, even created a new decal that says Squier but '70s Fender style. Fleor alnico...

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

@Grinderman just wanted to ask, was that measured from one you have? or found info on the internet? In another forum, some saying 2 1/4", some 2 1/2", another with some measurements that makes no sense... but all guesses. Hoping someone owns one and got a measure off it directly.

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Thanks... So, yes, definitely very off from the size I have. I assume the size is the same between the screw holes?

P-Bass vz Jazz Bass - Pickup Cover

Mine's 1 7/8"... anyone know about a P-Bass? I gotta order elsewhere but this time I want to check with the seller first to make sure the correct one. Downside to cheap eBay stuff from China. :D It's for a Squier (also China) so not wanting to buy more expensive Fender parts.
