Most overused and cliche' words and phrases in cover band names...

Was recently in a great 60s band with three white-haired guys in their 70s who had been active in bands way back then. Fantastic musicians, all of them. Of course we went through the naming discussion. One suggestion (which we discarded) was: "Whiter Shade of Frail".

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

Update: Been gigging with both basses for 2 months now since rewiring, and I haven't experienced any problems. Some of the comments in this thread suggest that the authors were just sharing whatever was on their mind rather than reading the details of the original post and responding to it...

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

OK, the SRF705 worked nicely for several days, so I also rewired the SR1805. All good thus far. Here's a video showing what I did on the SR1805:

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

I cannot fault your logic there. Thing is ... I like the Line 6 G10 because: no cables or belt pack; and I can whip it out of one instrument into another with no need to mute my amp, and the instrument power won't be on (draining the battery) while the instrument is not being used. To use the...

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

It's not the tip that turns the instrument power on. It's the main shank which connects the Ring and Sleeve contacts. But the G10 pin splits the long sleeve section into Ring + short Sleeve .... and only lets power through in one direction .... and my basses are all wired to have power flow in...

Haha .... that was me! But I'm operating on intuition rather than knowledge ... which makes me slightly nervous.

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

True. But if most bases are wired with the opposite polarity, then I'm just in a significant minority. They are using the Ring connector for charging purposes when the transmitter is connected to the base station. If Ring-Sleeve detects a voltage in one direction it passes it through (needed...

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

The extension cable half-works. It does make the G10 function correctly. But it makes swapping basses a 2-step process instead of 1-step, and it creates dangle factor which I don't want. Rewiring seems like it'll fix everything nicely ... but the question is whether there might be unexpected...

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

I already reseated the jack several mm further out the recess hole so that the G10 transmitter could plug in. This is on the SRF705 fretless.

Advice before I rewire jacks on 3 instruments to suit Line 6 Realy G10 wireless unit

Dear Talk-Bassers, I recently purchased a Line 6 Relay G10 wireless unit. It works fine if I connect it to my instruments with a mono patch lead and a female-female mono TS adapter. However, if I plug it in directly to my instruments it fails to achieve a wireless connection with the base...
