Because 8% is too little and 10% is too much of a discount? Edit for more serious answer - and it also hits that sweet $99.99 to get people to think "Hey! That's LESS than $100! That's awesome!" There's a bit of psychology involved in doing so that's been used for decades in retail.

And I've edited my post as well to indicate this. ROFL Cool... Now if I had an extra big oven and the patience to let stuff sit for 6-8 months, I might try it sometime. Maybe I can convince my wife that they could use some roasted woods for her business... :X

How did they turn out? Did you use a standard oven at around 350-375 for 3-4 hours on them for the *Edit* roasting? Did it stink to high heaven when you did this? Did they bow/cup at all on you? (Sorry for all the questions, but I'd been wondering about the process for a while now.)

I've been considering doing a reverse on the P pickup when I put the Double J at the bridge of my SX Pbass... Of course that means I'll need to make up a new pickguard for it.

I forgot to ask, are you going to reverse those Ps? Edit - I found this from another pickup placement thread. You could do them approximating the jazz positioning with the centerline being on the split of the two P coils.

I had a BC Rich Beast with a double P setup, and it sounded massive... Loved everything about it except for the weight and the top strap pin, which wanted to carve out a chunk of my midsection. It is still the only bass I've owned that had a 'special' top - a beautiful flamed maple in dark red...

Unfortunately it doesn't do anything for the big issue.. The ground blobs on the backs of the pots.. ROFL

Have you checked under the hood to see if it's just a loose wire for the pickup? I know you're going to bin them and the electronics, but would be nice to know if it's actually bad. (Might also be able to contact them and get them to say they'll pay for a replacement and then walk it back...

Duh moment Note to Self - You might want to drill/enlarge pickguard holes /before/ you paint a pickguard... Whoops.. Ah well, new hole drilled and the other holes are enlarged to accept the new electronics... Didn't mess up the paint, I used blue tape liberally on it before drilling.. Did wreck...

You didn't clear coat the pickguard? This was using the rustoleum ultimate metallic right? How has it held up over time for you?

They do... I have a similar headstock on an SX 'Jazz' neck (1.65" Nut.. so, IE: standard PBass neck) that I was looking at slapping on a Jazz body (or perhaps, a Jag-style body with routes for a MM+P O.o) that I may have to do a matching headstock on once I figure out the color for the bass...

Not 100% perfect, but I find the results livable. Besides, if someone is close enough to see the imperfections, they'll likely end up getting smacked in the face with the bass if I'm playing it.. ROFL. Still haven't gotten out to get the Rustoleum clear... It's been a nice lazy weekend...
