    My First Build 2020

I used an Aguilar 25k concentric bass treble pot to replace the two separate from the kit its a solder in place, some pics early in the thread if you need a reference. I ordered direct from Aguilar off their parts page. It was the closest I could find at the time.

    "ASTAROTH"

This build is truly mesmerizing. I've watched it since 2020, while I worked on my first build (which pales in comparison). It's the build I've come back to tb for time and time again to drool over. Watching it progress into something so much more than the sum of its parts. It is stunning. Wish I...

    My First Build 2020

At long last Fishman has released their 6 string bass pickup set! With a little crafty routing, reinsulating and threading. I finally have full pole width to catch the B and G strings. The sound difference from the 5 to the 6 is massive. Debating selling the used 5s with an unused kit if anyone...

SBO 2022 - Cheaper by the Dozen - 12 String Bass

Wow, just wow. Also, now I need to build another bass! This time with black laminations...

.01" is doable, its half of what I have now. I can always go to .015" first and see how it sounds. If I go too far I can replace the fret, I have more left over from my first build. I will wait until the next string change anyway to do that so I can leave this as an open discussion for now...

Bengal, and that pic doesn't do his coat justice

Challenging to take one without glare, in focus, and showing texture.

Thanks! Honestly the finish turned out fine, it just has a fine crackle paint effect. After it dried a bit after that fresh pain pic all the crazing laid flat and the later coats of clear sealed it all in. I'll try to catch the light right and post another pic of just the finish on the body. I...

I was hesitant to drink the nordstrand coolaid, and more so when I saw how it's constructed. But, I found a great deal on reverb on a used one in great shape, and couldn't pass up the chance to try one out. No regrets, sounds so much better than oem, and maybe as good if not a little better than...

I have no recording equipment, best I can do is maybe put my phone mic in front of the cab, and play a little of something intended for fretless, but I think that will sound terrible. I will try to get that in here, especially if I can borrow my buddies rode mic, if he makes it up to my place

That thing is interesting especially the tuning they chose and the wild idea in general. I am not good enough at playing, and couldn't justify the price and not knowing if I would be any good or even like fretless to get the Gary Willis Ibanez in any of its forms. Looking back now that I have...

Only if its not filed and crowned, which it is, might even go a hair lower

Sure is, but does it count if it's a zero?
