Without any amplification I'm very dissapointed the way my big brand new 4/4 fully carved personalized upright bass sounds! Before construction I specifically told the luthier "pretend you are in a contest to make the world's most boomiest and thumpiest sounding upright bass." I even told him that I was willing to sacrifice my own commodity and get a bigger than the standard 3/4 sized bass just to ensure I would get this type of sound I so much desired! (After this constant insistance I had very high hopes I would be satisfied) Well it turned out that it doesn't "boom" at all! My old ugly and smaller 3/4 laminated upright bass booms more! I'm very pissed off! I should of just went to stores with many upright basses and tried them out and picked the boomiest sounding one!

Current Setup
New wide shouldered fully carved 4/4 custom made personalized upright bass. I mostly play without any amplification in a "strolling" style. I'm so dissapointed with the sound of this upright bass that out of feeling decieved I bought a shadow pickup to use with a older Acoustic B200 combo amp I has at home in order to "mask" the sound. What a rude awakening.
