I also would love to know the answer to this one. My Jack Casady strung B-E-A-D has a terrible time with the tapered B string (makes a chorusy sound as it seems to light up every harmonic up the frets),

Is a product from Kentucky. Does anyone know where to get some. I think it is a water-based solution that amplifies the light effect of figured maple. Was used on banjoes mostly. If anyone has any ideas.... Cheers.

Thanks Beej. It's good to know as we have similar neck sizes. I think I can even get 10mm spacing at the nut. I never will slap on this bass as it's for country music, so I think it's gonna work out.

Hello. I am building a bass for the first time. I have a Gibson EB3/Triumph neck which is 62 mm wide at the bottom and 43mm at the neck. I really would like to make this a 5-string, but was wondering if it will be possible. I don't mind if the strings are close, but the question is how close...

I haven't played the Flea Bass, but am completely in love with my Q5. I prefer the smaller spacing between the strings as I only finger pick, and don't need room to slap or pick. I almost never adjust the pickup balance from the centre (2 Bartolini's), and usually adjust tone with the eqs or...

Thanks Jimmy. I have some things to learn still. I'll probably go to a higher wattage speaker cause I do get some festival gigs (gotta love playing in bands with promoters), and of course I still hope to be a rockstar someday. So one more question. If I get a 4x10 at 8 ohms and 800 watts...

And if the triad is only rated to 400 watts at 4 ohms, can it even handle the output of the SM-900, or would I have to lay back on the gain/master?

Thanks guys. Some good suggestions. I am leaning towards the eden d410 (xst, xlt ???), and maybe a 15 below. But I might just start buying some speakers and build me something nice. I like the idea of 10's for the studio, but I do worry about how much low end I can pull on stage without a 15...

Who makes a nice 4x12? Will it still have the punch of a 4x10?
