When I wanted a big girl bass, I went from an Ibanez gsr200 to an sr700. I think sticking to an upgraded version of what you’re used to is the easiest transition. I learned this the hard way, hundreds of dollars later.

Ibanez sr700 in more colors and with lacquered bodies. These, IMO, were their best. Those matte finishes don't hold up well at all. I grabbed the amber and the brown, but missed the blue.

There are so many, but Phil Lesh and Dave Schools are probably my favorite bassists I never wanted to sound like.
