Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

I will certainly try this method, jmlee, so appreciate the advice. I’ve adjusted the p/u heights based on overall tone quality, but not by focusing on the highest fret. Certainly worth a try!

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

In my case, James….yes. The B string on the TRBX505 is more usable (good tonal quality) as I move up the neck, while on my BB735A I’m limited to the 1st 5 frets on the B. Past that, I start losing usable tonal quality, and I get a ‘chorus’ type affect. I’ve landed with DR Pure Blues strings for...

Well, it’s definitely playable and feels good in the hands. One thing to note, if you don’t know already, the truss rod adjustment is the wrench/socket type and not an Allen wrench. The guy I bought it from no longer had it, but luckily it didn’t need adjusting. It does lack a bit of tonality...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

That didn’t surprise me too much, as I have a BB200, as well. I specifically bought it used a couple years ago to practice and ‘shed’ on so as to not wear out my other basses (which include a BB735A and TRBX605, et al). For this lowest tier BB the neck is rather incredible. The fact the neck was...

So, I've heard, . . . and hence my interest. Those I've heard from videos do sound amazing.

Ah,...thanks for that. With my BB735 having a VTB setup (in passive mode), I didn't even think the BBP35 had a VVT knob setup. Good to know!

Hmmmm,…..so for those who know or have experience with these basses, BB2025 or BBP35? Does either have a better feel/sound/tone and more listener/bandmate compliments than the other? My personal preference would be to choose the BBP35 due to the blend knob, rather than the pickup selector switch...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Soooo, I did “a thing” and sprung for a TRBX505 recently as a “sibling with a different personality” to my BB735A. Pretty pleased, and the B string is much more solid/pronounced as I suspected - and wished - it would be. The BB735A will remain as the older, more experienced (aka used) and wiser...

Hey, PM - I’m a big Pure Blues fan. Once I put those on my BB735A I just stopped looking for anything else,….but, im curious. What is it that you like about the Hi-Beams?

Ah,….that makes sense then, with you being in Japan. I’ll keep my feelers out, then… and I’ve been following Danny at Japan Bass Direct for awhile, now….but never looked into his/their bass hunter service. If I don’t pull the trigger on a couple that I currently have my eye on, I’ll be sure to...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Ohhh, Jimmy - I’m jealous,….so jealous. Been looking at these (and BB800) for awhile, but it seems that I can only find them in Japan on eBay and Reverb. Did you find your in the states? HOW did you find it? If I find one for a deal, I’m jumping on it, too!

Yeah,…..I’ve had the best luck/sound/feel on my BB735A with DR Pure Blues, myself.

Doh!,.....Never mind on #2. That’s the BBPH. I was thinking the pickup was a reverse P on that model, but I guess not.

Daaaang, hypercarrots! Those are stupendously beautiful. I’m searching for the perfect/near-perfect Yamaha P, and I couldn’t hold back my Pavlov response when I saw them. A couple of questions......1) are those the original Yamaha pickups in both the 1200 and 1200S? 2) what model is the 2nd...

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Soooo, fellow Yammers - I’ve been really lovin’ my BB735A for the past couple of years. A masterful instrument, ....especially for the price I paid. Lately, the thought of finding a Yamaha P-bass has been rolling around on my head. The BBPH is an interesting candidate, but going down the vintage...
