Did I Hear Somebody Say Smith Basses Aren't Versatile

That was nice. That Smith sounds great. That biscuit guy sounds a-little hateful, cuz the singer and the Cajun sounded great! Thanks sharing some culture with the rest of us insomniacs!

    SOLD FS: G&L L2000

Ps. I dig the unmarked fretboard! I play an unlined L2000 fretless...we don't need no stinking dots!

    SOLD FS: G&L L2000

Beautiful bass. The L2000 is the biggest sounding, most versatile bass for the money. I think it is the pinnacle of LeoFender's design!

    Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky?????

I have tried a lot of strings and I love DR hi beams, but that is after trying lots of different strings. I would try any that you are interested in because a lot depends on you and your playing style and your bass. Give me a shot.

    Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky?????

I have tried them as well, and I didn't like the tone. The feel was a bit rough for sliding. Because a bass string has so much mass, the string has a huge impact on tone. I have moved to compression wound string and use DRs high beams on my custom fender jazz, and DR fat beams on my G&L L2000...
