    Double Bass Black hair dye?

So far India ink is definitely better than my Fiebings. Revlon two part hair dye is better still. Not sure how long it'll take to get the smell of 600 prom girls out of the shop though.

    Double Bass Black hair dye?

I don't know why I haven't tried Trans tint for darkening Ebony. I might give it a go. The Fiebings comes off on a rag/ hands for a long time and has that Sharpi blue cast. India Ink is a possibility too I've heard.

    Double Bass Black hair dye?

Hey all, I have a dim memory of an Instagram post advocating Revlon(?) black hair color for ebony stain. I've used Fiebings leather dye but am looking for something better. Anyone with experience or knowledge of the specific hair dye used?

    Double Bass Kay doublebass damage

I think I'm in the camp that says rebuilding the dovetail, as it was meant to be,(tight and well fitting) not sloppy and loose as it probably was, will leave the block (weak link) stronger than cutting more of the corner out with a straight sided mortise and gluing chunks on the neck. the only...

Double Bass Any tips for removing mystery glued neck on lam bass?

I got it off with my usual methods, Spatulas, razors and wiggling. It is some kind of hide glue but gobs of it, foamy, and not as brittle as the good stuff. It probably would have been a little cleaner to rout and excavate but taken a long time. Thankfully the fingerboard popped right off too...

Double Bass Any tips for removing mystery glued neck on lam bass?

Hi all. Does anyone know the horror that lurks within? If I can the neck out cleanly, I'll be putting a new one on. I'm thinking of sawing off the neck and excavating the heel to spare trauma to the block and button. I can feel with a separating knife it's not hide glue. Almost certainly the...

Double Bass Vintage American Standards on "the rack"

Very nice Mr condino! I've thought of making a permanent "rack". but I don't do enough neck pocket re-builds to justify it. I have evolved a routing body holding system for my bench though.

That was the easiest thing I've ever posted. Unless someone beats me to it I'll add my Aubert. Your the man. Thanks.

    Double Bass favorite Bridge blank

Thanks keiranohara, As I mentioned in my earlier post, hart height is exactly the type of information that's useful but lacking from suppliers . Maybe I'll post a few pics w/ measurements of the blanks I get as repayment to the folks on the forum. A bridge blank library might be useful for others.

    Double Bass favorite Bridge blank

The wholesale thing is a bit arcane. but I'm going to look around for a customer to figure out their options anyway, and whisper down the lane ordering and returning has it's own risks and problems. Not that I can't appreciate having money tied up. I work on a wide range of instruments and have...

    Double Bass favorite Bridge blank

What a luxury to look through a pile of them. I hate having to order a piece of wood through the mail I haven't seen yet. The price of living in the boonies I guess. Thanks for lending me your eyes!
