Thanks for the help! I've managed to remedy it the same way another commenter did on page 5, by putting it at an angle. If I push it too far down the strings, it kills the sound, but at an angle it works well. I'm worried about it being easy to knock off by accident though.

Has anybody had trouble with their Nordymute (or self-made equivalent) completely deadening a string? I received my Nordymute today and the E string is nothing but buzzing. The other three sound great! I put it on my fretless Jazz Bass with black nylon strings and the string seems to get muted...
