    Are you referring to the black wire? I was asking about the short white wire (completely in the circle) that appears to be connected to the same pot on both ends. Sorry for not specifying.

    I recently bought a Fender '63 P bass pickup. It came with a wiring diagram that I'm having trouble reading. There is one wire which seems to go from the tone pot back to a different part of the same pot without actually doing anything. What does this wire do?
