So far these things are confirmed not to cause the buzzing: - Cabinet rattle - Speaker itself - Insufficient filter caps - Opamp As it seems that this is a quite common problem, I contacted Ampeg technical support, and asked them if they've addressed and fixed this in V2 but: "This is not an...

Actually, I think I'll write an article about the filter cap mod with excact instructions and pictures. I noticed that my previous description is too inaccurate for those who are not familiar with electronics.

For the stock speaker, I recall that the reflex tube's length was roughly correct. It was tuned around 71 Hz, which is fine for stock speaker. It's easy to cut it if needed with sharp knife or something. It's made of cardboard though, so it's a bit difficult to do it neatly. The inner end of...

Thanks. Not to mention that connecting rectifier's pins 2 and 3 backwards will fry the fuse :) Took me an hour to find out what the f*** happened.

Ok, I took the rectifier off the main board and added a daughter board with two 2200uF capacitors in parallel with the existing ones. That fixed the whole buzzing problem. In addition, this mod made a huge difference. This little beast booms my ass off now. This is how I solved it: [Invalid...

Ok, I connected Ampeg's speaker to other amp head, and there is no buzzing. Everything was in place, I just took the speaker cable out from the reflex tube. So, it has to be something with amp itself. I'll try to double those caps and see if it helps.

Very low output from warwick - help needed

My Corvette STD has also passive MEC's and they have about half the output than for example my Fender Precision has. I first thought there was something wrong with the electronics, but found nothing when I checked. I guess it's just a feature. Otherwise they sound great to me. I am boosting my...

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't quite understand that voltage rating exceeding. Is my solution somehow wrong? EDIT: I didn't mean taking the rectifier completely off, but moving it to the daughter board :)

That came to my mind also. Buzzing is more remarkable with my Warwick Corvette than with my Fender Precision. But it's still there. I can hear it with all the eq knobs at noon, and volume knob around 9 o' clock. Reducing bass helps a little.

Actually, I did glue all the seams without any remarkable effect. And the speaker is still buzzing when it's taken out from the cabinet. Woodstockz, one question. Earlier you mentioned that you took the rectifier off the circuit board and added some filter capacitor. I have a schematic now, and...

By the way, do any others have this problem: When playing for example E-note from A-string, there is some odd buzzing noise. It's coming from the speaker, but not from the cab or amp part. It's just the same with stock and Fane speaker. Even with the speaker removed from the cab it can be heard...

I don't have tried Alpha in practice, I am only relying my calculations. I have a Fane in my BA108, and it's totally different beast compared to the stock speaker. You have tune you cab again, though. Stock tuning is way too high. It's around 70hz, when Fane seem to be working best with tuning...

By the way, WinISD seems to give somewhat wrong values for Alpha by default. It's better to update them according Eminence's webpage.

Seems to me that Alpha starts working better around 1ft3 of enclosure volume. In the picture below yellow is Fane, green is Alpha in BA108's enclosure, and orange is Alpha in 1ft3 enclosure.
