Great idea. I guess in a rehearsal setting--particularly in a small-ish basement room--since the bass won't be directional, there's no reason not to double up with piano or vocal.... right? (Again, especially for jazz--nothing loud.....)

What difference does the drummer make? (We do mostly play as a trio, bu I plan to pick up an old drum set, too.)

My bet is that you're pushing up against the laws of physics, and doing pretty well. Stick with Sentimental Mood and stay away from Cherokee. :-)

Haven't we always noticed that drummers and bass players who really groove stand/sit right next to each other?..... Is it this article or another I read that says that sophisticated musicians can feel even a 5 to 7ms latency--like 6 to 8 feet apart!
