I need a cheap under $200 bass guitar for home recording my gothic rock / alt rock demos

Can you guys give me quick second opinion on Squire Vintage Modified PJ Precision bass? Does it have great Precision sound and does it stay in tune? Are tuners good?

I'm from central Europe so that is out of question unfortunately.

I think I wouldn't like that bass just from the fact that it's so small. I already found Epiphone Toby IV extremely uncomfortable. I don't imagine I'd enjoy playing it if it doesn't sit nice on my leg.

Heyo guys, I need more opinions. I have to thank @kodiakblair first, for helping me out A LOT through private conversations and giving me lots of information on any questions I have. Sorry for being an annoyance with so many questions by the way but I appreciate it a lot! :D Anyways, what do...

I need a cheap under $200 bass guitar for home recording my gothic rock / alt rock demos

Heyo folks. I'm upping my price range to 350€. I also visited the guitar store but unfortunately they didn't have much to try because stuff doesn't sell too well. I had a chance to try Ibanez's TMB 100, Ibanez GSR 180 and Epiphone Toby Standard IV. I liked the Toby the least because it sounded...

That's great to know! I'm probably gonna need a pack of roundwounds as well if I come into situation where I'll feel like flatwounds won't have enough attack for rock music. What would you suggest from roundwound department? Ever had experience with these? : Invalid Link Removed Mige from HIM...

That's the reply I honestly expected. Generally every bass will work for any genre, absolutely true! Since I'm still in picking stage though, never hurts to ask! I guess I could always go for some PJ model but I feel like you always sacrifice some of the P sound for some of the J sound. Looking...

So what would you guys consider the best rock bass in Harley Benton series? I personally like PB-50 sound the most and I'm only comparing the samples from Thomann website, since I'm still deciding which bass I'm getting. I'm obviously more a fan of a precision sound. I'm only currently having a...

How do I achieve this bass tone?

Hello I'm a long time guitar player that's gonna learn bass guitar soon, I'm currently in the process of picking one, anyways, I'm wondering how does the bass player Mige achieve this tone in this song? I think he's using Gibson Thunderbird. Is there some effect on it or something? It gives...

Hello friends! I was told about this brand of basses in the other thread I made and I was very intrigued by a low price of them and apparently they sound great for its price. I need a few suggestions. Just a quick background. I'm a lead guitar player player for over 10 years who needs to take...

I need a cheap under $200 bass guitar for home recording my gothic rock / alt rock demos

I think Mige from HIM played Gibson Thunderbird on first 2 albums as well and later played Fender P Bass for like 9 years, now he plays J Bass.

Can anyone explain what's the point of the bass guitars with "Gothic" in their name? Do they name them like that just because of how they look or are they actually supposed to have gothic or metal sound? I'm confused.

I find it kind of interesting to know that this forum doesn't generally praise used Vintage Modified Squires this much. Is that because other brands like Ibanez, Yamaha... just simply sound the same or are more versatile for less or same amount of money or...? Just a legit question I have since...
