    Thanks Beej. Pretty much confirms what I’ve been pondering. Fortunately the strings mount from the back of the bridge through an inset plate. I’ll just make a new one and redrill the bridge. The saddles are individual pieces so maybe I can slide them around a bit, or as you say cut new ones. I...

    Thanks for that. I am planning to leave the neck as is. I might end up making a whole new bridge drilled out for 4nstrings. Don’t want to make it ugly.

    What's the most famous make of bass you've NEVER HELD?

    Fender bass. Funny but I’ve never owned nor played one. It was always so much THE bass to have that I went all negative and decided not to have one. Now I think maybe a real, older model might be cool but the necks are kinda thin and it would be too much money now.
