I got a mint USA G&L L2500 S750 for the price of a "fair" tribute. A week later a GC rep asked if it was a tribute and if I wanted to trade it in.

Certain basses just have that MoJo, doesn't matter the price, doesn't matter the exact model, it's all in the mood of who built it, what tree it was cut from and how the pups were built. The worst is finding that MoJo in person, buying the same exact model, but it just doesn't have that vibe...

There are a million J, PJ and P Basses out there that are head and shoulders above Fender. Unless you are dead set on a Fender, look around for other basses. GC is all over the place for pricing +/- 30% sometimes.

I'm hyper sensitive to action and buzz. I WANT buzz when I ASK for it, I want it perfectly buzz FREE when I DON'T and I want it to happen medium -low action. I backed the truss 1/4 and I am in the butter zone. I have been handed someone's personal bass a few times and scour at sloppy setups...

Nice! I love the banjo frets and overall ergonomics, it doesn't feel like a 37" neck. Tone is definitely Dingwall, but it can hang with most genres and tones you'll want. I had both a solo equipped and now have a "minimalist" bridge they both work fine, but I like the look of the mono bridge...

I'm try to use a pick, but I struggle. Yes it has more attack than finger style, but apply a hard pluck slightly downwards or pulling off the bass, you get a pretty spanky attack, I also flick with my nails for a nice "ping". Tremello plucking I use Geddy/flamanco for a pick like attack.
