It still sounds muted unfortunately, i also downtuned G string to F# and an open F# string sounds ok, only the fretted notes sound bad.

I've recently got an acoustic bass and found out that wherever on the fretboard i want to play F# note it sounds like it's heavily muted or dead even. Is there something i can do about it or the instrument is just broken?

As in title I have washburn xb125 (5 strings) and absolutely love comfort of playing but sound is too metal oriented for me, so my question is, what pickups would you recommend for blues, blues-rock?
