Wolf,Woodo,HK and Raven West (KHL.Co.)Basses.

Wolf,Ravenwest,HK, and Woodo are ALL come from the same maker.KHL Corp. in South Korea.
Compare the Wolf 7 with a Ravenwest 7 and a Woodo 7.Look at the body shape,bridge and electronics.Exact copies.Same model.

So Wolf is the original KHL,Co brand that the others are based on.

My Wolf WTHB-7W.Are there any other Wolf or KHL.Co bass owners?
The bass in the picture above IS the exact same bass I have.A NAMM show display bass.Bought from Ebay in November 2014.
It's heavy!13.6 lbs to be exact!

The finish is quite nice.But there were a few small rough spots.Some 0000 steel wool took care of them.
The whole body is walnut with an ebony fret board.(With the exception of the neck-thru rosewood and maple laminations)
There's no serial number.I don't know what that indicates.Hmm.

The way my fingernails pluck the strings produces a kind of "piano bass key"sound on the lower strings.REAL growly.
My Tune basses don't do that.

The Active/Passive by-pass switch is just that.
The preamp is a bit noisy when turned up,but I can get all kinds of sounds out of this bass.Beefy aggressive neck pickup sound.Punchy,burpy "Jaco"bridge pickup sound.

On the down side the D string (exact center string)seems to have a lower volume level than the other strings.
My guess is that KHL used a six string split coil pickup for a seven string.And the D string is between the split..

As of this date,I am in the process of upgrading my Wolf.
The black hardware is being switched for gold plated hardware.Dark woods NEED gold hardware.
Hipshot seven string bridge and Ultralite tuners.
And a set of Delano SBC 7 HE/S dual coil pickups.

Recent changes.I got my Hipshot Ultralites,Hipshot gold seven single bridge and gold knobs.The Delanos are on the way.

Next up:Change out the preamp.The replacement is the same type as what is installed.
The gain pot in the one in the bass crackles when adjusted and has a bit of a hum.Later.

Ravenwest.My second choice,at the time I bought my Wolf bass,was a Ravenwest seven string.

A Raven West 7 string was my second choice.They are both KHL products so I would guess they are the same in quality and sound.
Raven West sells KHL.Co basses of a greater assortment of woods AND they tend to have some fancy inlay in the fingerboards.
Their average weight is 10.5 Lbs.

Well,I will tell you.My Wolf is as good as most any bass I've played in any store.
If I saw it on a wall,I would definitely head straight to it!
But the tone of the lower strings have some serious growl!Like a piano.
Listen to the Woodo B6 Black Walnut vid above.When he hits that low B at 0:40.That's the sound!!That;s he tone!

It IS heavy.
13.6Lbs to be exact.Due to the fact that it is solid walnut body wings.

As I said above,there seems to be a slight volume drop with the D string for the above reasons.
I don't know if Raven West 7 string basses have this.

Yeah!I saw that Woodo basses have Kent Armstrong pickups.Back when I was looking for replacements for the ones in my Wolf.
Never could find what model number they were.I settled on Delano(shown above)

As for the other models they may be Altec pickups.KHL.Co's sells them.So they MAY be what's installed in most.

A quick question about your Woodo bass.Does it have a serial number.I don't need to know the number.Just want to know IF it has a serial number.
My Wolf doesn't.
KHL.Co make mine and your bass.So I'm wondering.

The Delano's are in! The tone is pretty much the same as the old pickups.
That's OK!I wasn't trying to change the tone.
The D string was weak.And I had my suspicions.

But the verdict is in!
I was right!

The reason that the D string volume was weaker that the other string IS because KHL used a G&B six string split coil pick up!
The D string fell in between the split in the coil!
I took one of the pickups and cut the face off.

The gold Hipshot bridge has come in!


A full 24hrs later.

A test mount.Loosely attached.
I was going to use the old saddle holes,but they are off slightly.
So I'll have to fill the old ones and drill new ones.

And it's in!
After much planning and layout,it's in!
Now to set the intonation and saddle height.

Whether you buy a Raven West or a Wolf,they both are the same.
The neck on my seven is comfortable.
At least to me.

And as s I said above the pickups for a seven(and possibly a five) use split coils.
IMO the electronics are fine.
They kick the sub woofer response in my amp like no other bass I've had!
