Hi. Yes, this is exactly the issue. There is absolutely no difference in sound level between the two inputs, whatever the gain, master or EQ settings. Btw I have a passive pick-up and do not have access to an active bass to try this.

Yes, in comparison to my guitar, the bass _is_ a little quieter, but when I plug the guitar in to the bass amp, I still have much lower volume than when it is plugged in to the guitar amp. the guitar has humbucker pickups which I guess are naturally higher output.

Thanks for your reply. the EQ settings are all set to "flat" at present. Nothing I can do with the EQ will get the bass to play as loud as when I plug in an MP3 player to the line-in. I think the power-amp and speaker part of the amp must be OK!
