    overdriving a tube amp

I am new to the world of tubes. Specifically I have an ampeg V4 with a matching V4 412 cab which is loaded with eminence basslite s2012's. My question is, what is the proper way to overdrive my amp? Also how can I avoid overdriving it? I want to be able to have a clean tone at a fairly loud...

    Reverb on a V4

Can I use a footswitch to turn the reverb on and off on my V4? I Noticed a footswitch jack under the reverb tank switch but not sure how that works.

    Blown speaker?

Okay so I have never had any experience with blown speakers. I've never really pushed it hard enough. I have a GK stack so I get the usually overdrive growl known to GK but that's it. Until, the other day I notice that when I would play about 12 frets up on the E or the A string a horrible...

    Bass Compressor

I recently started looking into a compressor to go with my setup to give me some extra punch and drive for live performances. I don't exactly know what to look for though. Do I have to buy a "bass compressor" or can I just use any one I want? I think I would prefer one with tubes but I'm not sure.
