Not sure what the wattage of the head is, the cab is a Vox V112TV. I think they're rated for 30 watts?

Not with this band we haven't. We practice as loud as I imagine we'd be playing at a show though, and it just feels like the Hartke can't keep up. I'd like more power to avoid turning everything to mud and losing definition!

We haven't amplified the drums at all yet, haven't played outside of his house, and if we did it'd probably be basement shows and maybe some small bar shows. I do like the idea of a PA for both of us though...

It is a solid state PA head, so no dice. However the guy was selling one of these for $200 (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/behringer-europower-epx3000-stereo-power-amp). I'd have to get a mixer, or something to run the bass through, but could that work s a head?

i'm A/B/Y-ing between my Hartke and a Peavey 115 right now, but still plateauing volume wise, maybe I should add more!

There's a 300 watt Sunn PA head on Craigslist for $150, $400 for that and a pair of Peavey SP-2's with Black Widow speakers... My bass sound is with a lot of pedals anyways, so I often don't rely on the clean tone of the amp... Would this be louder than my Hartke HA2500 (which would be 250 watts...

in comparison to a hartke HA2500 (which runs 175 watts at 8 ohms and 250 at 4 ohms) do you think the peavey would be louder? even if it's 210 watts at 4 ohms? i'm in a two piece band and i am the only stringed instrument, also competing with a bonham-sized kit. so you might say i need some volume.

I played my bass and put my ear in front of each speaker and it doesn't sound like any are blown? I don't know if that's a bad way of checking for a blown speaker or not though haha
