the TRACE ELLIOT thread: Part II

That fits right in with TE history: 'In 1979, a music shop in Romford, Essex, UK, called Soundwave was building and hiring out PA systems to local musicians. It soon became apparent that some of this equipment was not being used simply as PA but instead was being used by bass players, who for...

NAD - More Trace Elliot Content... I bought a Trace Elliot 7215 Series 6 GP7 300W Combo way back in January, and enjoyed it very much. However... I did some rehearsals and gigs with it - and to be quite honest, it did seem a little heavy to transport efficiently, especially for a man who is...

You may like to read my review of the V7 from back in 2015 when I bought one of the early ones with MM's signature on the neck plate... just read it again and not only do I now have GAS for a V3, I have GAS for a V7, too! Way to give myself bloody GAS!! :woot:

Difficult to tell without playing one. But they'd have to be better, or at least as good as, the MM V3 or Squier VM series... I wouldn't want to take the risk. They do look good though, especially the creme versions.

Thomann are offering the MM V3 for less than the 'equivalent' Enhanced HB. I'm a big fan of HB, but I'd rather have a MM for less outlay!

Single coils tend to hum. It could be a shielding issue. I used copper tape in my pickup and control cavities. No hum. And this particular Jazz isn't even earthed.

Probably, but to be fair whether or not you get hit for duty when buying goods from the US (I'm in the UK) seems to be a lottery. Sometimes I do, sometimes not. I think it depends on how the staff involved are getting on with their partners...

When I'm irritated by a buzz or rattle I resist doing anything at all, then if it's still irritating the next day I'll do something about it. More often than not it just disappears on its own - OR, becomes unimportant to me... but then I'm a big fan of taking the path of least resistance and...

Fakes, huh? It really boils my goat that genuine, legitimate brands such as Harley-Benton have their hard work and original ideas sidetracked and essentially ripped-off by commercial predators such as Fender! When will the public wake up to the fact that a hand-crafted Harley-Benton made with...

When my PB-20 arrives I'll stick a template over the stock and make a decision. My main worry is lack of material between the G tuner and the end of the headstock. Ultimately one could always replace the neck, but I feel this may defeat the object somewhat... :)

I suspect there isn't enough material on the headstock to reshape it to a 57-type P stock (if that was your intention). However, it would be easy to make a Lakland shape. ;) Thing is, I'd hesitate to make a Lakland replica, whereas I've made many Fender replicas without a thought. Wonder why...

Yes indeed. Fender 7250 nickel-plated steel sound very fine on a Jazz. It's almost as if they were made for it! ;) They are very affordable too. However La Bella flats sound best on a PB-50.
