As several of you have pointed out before the old Shure 57 doesn't cover the full range needed. I have seen positive references to the AKG d112. Has anyone positioned this or other mikes (Shure 52A?) on the bass itself? How was this done? Happy with it?

I agree that the bass doesn't need to be walking over the instruments that are doing a lot of runs, walking, etc. Too muddy. The situation I am in, a bluegrass gospel band, is fun for me since the only other instruments are a guitar (rhythm only, no interest in moving around) and a banjo...
