Fender Mod Shop and Mary Kaye Blond

Has anyone in the forum purchased a Fender Mod Shop bass in Mary Kaye Blond. This is the transpaarent white color that shows the wood grains in light blue. I never saw it as a Mod Shop color, but I didn't start looking until 2019. Any pics or feedback is approciated.

Is there much difference in the Power section of the popular Class D Amps

I apologize taking this off track. I haven't posted much so it is part of my learnings.

Is there much difference in the Power section of the popular Class D Amps

As promised, some pics and description of the pre-rig right now. Flow goes from Fender Level Set buffer (I like the mute pre-effects and I swap out basses a lot so it helps to compensate for different input levels without having to change stuff deeper in the rig). Preamp is next (SansAmp in...

Is there much difference in the Power section of the popular Class D Amps

Thanks for all the compare and contrast. Super opinions, knowledge and experience. My summary so far is kinda like the 80/20 rule: If you want 100% of what a vender has to offer in the "designed tone" / feature department, then the pre-amp/amp combo is the way to go. Can't deny this one. But...

Is there much difference in the Power section of the popular Class D Amps

Thanks all for the responses so far. I'm not so interested in "building the power section". I'm more interested in having 1 solid, dependable, ergonomic power section and bring different tone to the party via the vendors pre-amps to help dial in my signature tones without the expense of the...

Is there much difference in the Power section of the popular Class D Amps

I'm looking at components vs. all in one Bass head units. Each bass head manufacture has a pre-amp with their recipe for "tone". Mesa, Aguilar, Eden, SansAmp, Ampeg, Orange, Darkglass, MarkBass... However, the extra cost for the "power section" seems pricy. Most pre-amp versions of tone are...

Basses- one to rule them all or there is strength in numbers

The 4 string in the back is a Vintage Westone Spectrum (I think that is the model). Back in the late 80's Westone made a bass that came that included a Fretted neck and Fretless neck. The case had a place for the bass and the extra neck. It was a screw on and screw off neck with embedded bolts...

Basses- one to rule them all or there is strength in numbers

I'm in the many mode now. I've had 1 bass for a couple of decades as it remains my number 1 for over 45 years (High School Fender Jazz 75 1/2). It was retired in 2005 and replaced with a MIJ 75 RI. Now, i'm a collector and rotate basses each month. The holiday season is Vintage Bass season. They...

Owning 5+ basses is like owning a dog

Not completely true for me... When I had 1 or 2 basses (most of my life) I didn't even know how to set them up. Mostly, I didn't really have the experience. Now that I have a rotation in, out and seasonality of some (vintage, modern, harvest fall, holidays...), I've gotten very efficient at...

Vintage reverse tuners... Why God why!

It didn't seem to matter much when I played the US Geddy Lee. You just feel the tension and work the way you want it. I thought it was going to be a big deal, but it turned out to be pretty natural for me to go either way.

Who is the most successful 'minimalist' bass player you know?

My vote is for Rick Rosas, Neil Youngs long time bass player. In the later years he was just so fluid, simple and always on. Just a joy to listen to and learn from.

Vintage Fender Jazz Bass - Pickup Cavity Brown Material

Thanks all. The bass plays great. My 1975 natural now has an older brother. I'm not gonna do much to it except play it and figure out how to keep it in great condition for the years to come.

Vintage Fender Jazz Bass - Pickup Cavity Brown Material

I'm trying to sort out the pocket. I will sand it out probably. But i'm trying to determine re-fin vs. lack of factory quality control. It could be either. Other body pics attached.

Vintage Fender Jazz Bass - Pickup Cavity Brown Material

The last thing I did was exactly that. I had the bass all back together and thought to take one last look. The pic is attached. There is material underneath. I assume it was in a liquid form originally. The color is almost identical to the finish color, but I'm not experienced enough to know if...

Vintage Fender Jazz Bass - Pickup Cavity Brown Material

I looked into this 70's Jazz Bass body and there is a brown material in the pickup cavity. It looks like it is excess finish that soaked into the pickup foam on the brass plate. It is also under the brass plate. Questions: Is this a re-finish? is it an adhesive? Did something melt? Is this...

Fender 74 Jazz bass neck with 8 holes.

Wow, thanks for the feedback. The neck is very much like the 0203-4243 model above. In fact the one was I was considering is only a few weeks later at 0203-4942. Looks legit. Thanks for all the feedback. I got spooked too early.

Fender 74 Jazz bass neck with 8 holes.

I recently pursued a 74 Jazz bass listed as "original condition". Part of the verification is taking it apart and validating the components. When I found 2 sets of neck holes, I decided to cancel the transaction. I'm thinking the neck was used on a different bass originally. The neck stamp on...
