That could certainly ease the labor burden on production - maybe enough to tilt things toward freeing up a balance of time for development _and_ production.

An author I like has a phrase in one of his books, “in accepting the gift, one honors the giver.” It’s amazing (or for me, it will be amazing :) to be able to create works with these magical machines.

I’ve been watching with interest, all the new methods and tools for making scroll basses - that help improve efficiency/ reduce time to get a good quality, domestically manufactured bass. The only new scroll to have! :) Wasn’t it Carly Simon with the song about anticipation? :D

I think I’m #30 :) Soon!

I was definitely free-range child, no helicopters in sight. Some of my pretty bad experiences might have been avoided if there was at least a landing pad within a 200 mile radius of home. That said, there’s something deeply satisfying about taking a “not working” thing apart and making it work...

I think Bruce as been working on the pin router magic making to have the machinery and supporting tools for scroll bass workflow - definitely cool to see his updates in the router pin luthier-related threads, if you haven’t!

When I visited the secret underground lab (TM) I was nervous about playing too aggressively on them - even though you were encouraging me to do so. I always try to be careful with someone else’s machine, but it had great feel and tone! Can’t wait for my own :D

Hi - Out of curiosity, do you have templates for the cutouts for a scroll bass - and what do you use to cut those out? Also, I'd be interested in knowing how did the logo (is that painted from a template, or a decal of some kind)? Thank you for the great images and ideas!

Just a thought (and I'm no expert on international moving of music goods!) but is the VAT the same for used instruments? While I'd prefer Bruce's contemporary instruments any day, maybe one of the used vintage ones would be an option (for the few that are actually reasonably priced!)?

This sounds like a really interesting option! I used to use rotosounds on my fretted basses, but chewing through frets was not good, so I've gone to something softer on those - hopefully there is a test set that appears with audio, magically, in the future!
