seams

I have this old Kay that needs some seams glued. No problem with the edges - hide glue and clamps. What is the best way to hold the vertical seam at the corner closed? I was thinking that placing a heavy object on it might work, but I’d like to make sure I’m not missing something.

I have a bass that had the carbon fibre rods inserted in the neck by routing them out and having them filled with strips of walnut. Now after years of use, there are bumps between the seams (the neck is maple). Would it just be a matter of sanding them out? Will they come back or will it remain...
