956 Kay C-1 (serial #36492)
Upgrades include reset neck, new bridge/soundpost/ebony board, endpin. Neck has never cracked/broken, even before the restoration work by Upton. All work done by Upton in 2011 when I purchased the bass and it's been amazing ever since. Modern setup and playability, classic Kay sound.
There are a few battle scars on the laminate edges on the upper and lower bouts. Otherwise in great condition with some nice natural wear marks. Currently strung with Spiro Mittel but sounds great with just about every string I've tried. My favorites other than the Reds were Chordas.
