Thinning the heard...

This is a 1972 Fender Jazz bass in excellent condition. As far as I can tell it is 100% original. Pickups are stamped "72" and the pots date to March of '72. I had the pickups rewound by Tom Brantley to original factory specs, and they sound great!

There 2 or 2 small finish chips and a couple of typical dings around the edge of the headstock. See the pics for more detail.

The bass plays very well - action is 2/32" on the G string and 3/32" on the E string at the 12th fret. Relief at the 9th fret is about 010." The frets have lots of life left, and there is no noticeable buzzing. Weight is 8.7 lbs, which is on the light side for a Jazz Bass from this era. Original covers and case are included.

The only reason I'm bumping this is because my older brother had this same bass and I had snucked into his room to pluck the strings after turning on his Sunn Coliseum bass amp. Two years later, my parents bought me a Precision to play. High school jazz band and 42 years later, I'm still playing Fender. Thank you for the memories.

Any reason why any pictures of frets have been omitted, or any mention of the condition of the frets. I realize the age, but a very important part of sale information. Thank you.

I’m not sure what you mean, as the frets are clearly visible in several of the pictures in the listing. I don’t think I’ve ever sold a bass with a picture that shows each and every fret, except from a distance as in the first pic of this listing. That said, tell me what additional information you would like and I will provide it for you if I can.

According to Talkbass rules you are not obligated to even answer my requests. Just thought at this price range pictures from 2 to 5 feet away are not conclusive, as to the amount of life left in this bass. Sorry to clutter your thread. I will PM next time, apologies.

Happy to answer your questions! Please point me in the direction of the kind of photos that you would like to see. If you look at my other “for sale” threads, you will see that these are my typical photos array. I’m always willing to improve, though… so show me an example of what you are looking for.
