They sometimes go for a bunch more, especially in natural with maple neck.....and depends on condition. There is a natural/maple neck one being on sale right now at a vintage guitar on-line retailer....they are asking $999. It has playing scars, but definitely in better shape cosmetically than mine......hence my asking price of $600.
This one's been played, and somewhere along the line, not handled too carefully. I typically only buy basses in very good condition (cosmetic, that is... I can get them playing right if that's not right, but the cosmetics are what they are)......this one is probably a 7 to 8 of 10 for its age....but there are some out there occasionally for sale that never left the basement or when they did, were always treated with respect. What I am surprised about this bass is that the headstock is in remarkably good condition while the body is nicked and has a bit of buckle rash, etc....usually, not being careful with your bass = beat up headstock!
I found this one locally on CL and got a pretty good deal.....did a bit of set-up work on it and cleaned it up a bit. I played it....love the tone ..... but it's not going to be a gigging bass for me and my current projects, so I am offering it up at a fair price such that the Guild can take someone down memory lane.
Cheers.
The bass is currently at my band studio .. will pick up tomorrow and snap a bunch of pics..... Will try to post them tomorrow. Kinda lame on my part to post my ad without pics.....Didn't think I would get such quick inquiries! Thanks for your patience.
