Hey TB'ers!
Hate to have to sell this bass but it needs some TLC and I just don't have the extra time to fix it.
Professionally restored from the ground up by Pat Wilkins a few years ago. But I put into storage for a year or two during the pandemic and now it sounds to me like a bad ground or something. I took it to a professional luthier out here (Carmel Valley Guitar) and he diagnosed the Aguilar preamp as the source. The bass received a fresh setup and new set of DR pure blue (45-100) at that time.
Moving forward, I purchased and installed a musicman 'clone' preamp from TriumphRider99 and afterwards, the issue is still present. I considered trying to chase down the issue but I've got a newborn at home plus juggling a work schedule so time is precious and it's easiest for me to offer this bass as a project instead.
Not sure what an appropriate value for this type of bass is anymore given the ups and downs of the market so I'll start at $1500 shipped ConUs obo
Includes decent condition vintage Stingray hardcase (early 80's I've heard).
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or trade ideas. Has killer tone and the neck plays wonderfully. Not an overstatement.
Primarily looking for a nice passive Jazz bass.
Thanks for looking!
