This is probably the coolest bass I'll ever own, but times are changing...and babies need diapers. I've slowly selling off parts of my collection, this one is next. Most Wals are pretty unique beasts, but this one might the the rarest of the rare. To my knowledge this is the only solid burled elm Wal in existence. It's a stunning bass, my pics don't do it justice.
Body aside, It's a standard MK1. Serial #W2384, Maple/mahogany neck, Indian rosewood board, gold hardware, and original case. It weighs 9.4lbs on my digital scale. The frets are in great shape, the truss rod turns freely, and all the controls and hardware work fine. The control cover was signed be Pete. I'm not sure why the serial number on the cover is different from the neck plate, but this is a pretty well documented bass, so I've never worried about it. A previous owner had it refinished with clear polyester by Michael Dolan a few years ago. Everything else is original. I'm asking $5900 shipped and insured CONUS, but I'll ship it anywhere. Message me to work out the details. It'll ship in a brand new box, lined with 1" styrofoam, so it will arrive safely. No trades..unless it involves a Fullerton AVRI jazz + cash, I'm not interested in anything else right now. On to the pics!!
*I'm guessing that odd colored spot on the heel had some figuring that wasn't stable enough to take finish, so it was routed and filled with wood. I'm guessing this was done when it was built.
Theres a few light scratches on the back of the neck in the 12th fret area. They don't break the finish.
