I'll get you some more details in the morning, as well as more photos. It's a real deal Conklin custom shop 9 string sidewinder. Figured Purple Heart body and fingerboard, dragon wood back. Maple and Purple Heart neck. Conklin pickups, Bartolini preamp. Absolutely mint.

It's really not bad - conklin makes the best necks for this kind of thing. Its very thin and comfortable in the hand. I went from 6's in the late 80's to 7's in the 90's to this. I have a 94 thumb, just like yours that recently dropped and got severely damaged. Thus the trade offer - the conklin is quite magnificent, as they all are. I'd be wiling to do a satisfaction assured trade deal. If you don't dig it, we'll undo the deal.

That is incredible! What is the tuning on that bass? My jaw dropped when I saw it

That's a bummer about your Thumb bass. The old ones sound and play so good. I know the Conklins are the shazbot when it comes to the multi-string instruments. I had a teacher who has a 7 string Conklin and he loves it. I'm just not in the market for anything over 6 strings right now. Thanks again.

Anyway, I have a '92 SS1 5 18v MEC in the process of being refinished with Tru Oil and Warwick wax. The previous owners weren't respectful to the finish, it was sweat stained (like some kinda funky gray green mung on the upper strap horn and back???) and mostly superficially dinged around the input jack, and the only other spot beyond restoration is the typical thumb indent by the neck pickup. The neck is perfect.

Let me know what you think! I was going to try to hold out to try to trade for a ss2 5 of similar vintage, but I had an '89 Thumb 6 that I sold for a stupid price and have regretted ever since....
