The e-volution is a body style- nothing to do with being made outside the US.
e-volution: body style with rounded edges and more elongated curves
Classic: body style with flatter edges more exaggerated curves
Gold series: US handmade bolt-on (can be e-volution or Classic or NJS)
Platinum series: US handmade neck-through and set neck (can be e-volution or Classic)

What does this weigh? Nice bass! Love any Elrick I've ever played. Also, pardon this slight derailment...
To add to what Bryan said, the following will also clarify some of the name confusion. They just started selling an expat version of the gold series called the "Expat e-volution." They feature the same components and specifications found on USA Gold Series basses. US Bartolini jazz coil pickups and 3-band pre w/ active/passive and 3-way mid-freq switch. US made hardware by Hipshot. Wenge fretboard with MOP position markers. Solid swamp ash bodies with satin finishes.

I didn't realize an Evolution was US. I'm probably confusing it with Expat. Makes sense now seeing the two names side by side.

And yes this is the gold series classic with bolt on neck. Thanks for pointing that out Bryan. You are probably the TB resident Elrick expert for sure.

Aw jeez! Sounds like the only difference will be who made it and where it was made.

I'll have to weigh it tonight. It's a good question. This is actually my third Elrick. All have played amazing. The only other basses that I've played in the same ball park were two Stambaughs. I had a Nordy VJ5 that played awesome but didn't have the Elrick warm but modern sound. I hesitate even putting this up on the block, but I'd really love to give a NJS a shot. Plus it's more secret weapon in disguise looking.

No NJS's out there for trade?

Ok, I've received numerous high end bass offers so I should clarify where I'm coming from on this trade/sale.

I really haven't been playing bass all that much. Between kids, wife, job, and my new found obsession with analog synths i just can't justify this baby sitting around. Well, I can...I'm just a little self-conscious that my bass skills have fallen to the wayside and I'm definitely not doing this bass justice. It's not that I couldn't recoup lost skills in a month or two, it's that I'm not sure I ever will have the time to devote like I used to. I'll never quit playing bass, but I need to be realistic in my music endeavors.

So...I'm really looking for just a simple, somewhat inexpensive bass to use. Something like a nice Warmoth or Fender PJ or JJ. Maybe a USACG or something. A bass that I don't feel bad sitting in the closet for a while or makes me feel self conscious if I go to a jam. I do prefer natural finishes but whatever. I understand I'll prob not get a trade + cash on an inexpensive bass. That's why it's also for sale. I will drop everything for an Elrick NJS though. It's kinda my dream bass. I'd also be extremely interested in an analog synth trade. The bass is due for a good setup having come from hot, humid St Croix to dry, moderate San Fran Bay Area. I was planning on taking down to Brawners shop for a setup and plek'ing, but free time seems to evade me, that's why she's on the lower side of the used Elrick price spectrum.

Anyway...that's my story. Now let's talk deals!

I'm not positive on the woods, but wenge neck is what I think it is.
