I purchased this bass a couple of years ago (2017-05-23) and it has been my primary bass from that time until today. (I am currently playing a Skjold Custom Fretless.)
I recently (2019-02-21) sent this bass to Pete Skjold for a new custom preamp installation and he put new strings on and did a full set up. (Action, intonation, etc.) Custom SKJOLD Stainless/Nickel strings
40-60-80-100-125
Preamp is a Standard Layout SKJOLD-TONE with
VOLUME - BLEND - TREBLE - MIDS - BASS
Volume Control has a push-pull Active/Passive switch.
I have decided to purchase a new production bass from him and so I need to sell this one.
Otherwise I would keep it. It plays and sounds amazing. Very warm tone, yet articulate.
SPECS:
- 34" scale
- 26 frets
- Zero fret
- 8lbs, 13oz
- Solid African Mahogany Body
- 3-piece Maple neck w/Purpleheart center
- Morado Fingerboard
- Custom SKJOLD TONE AUDIO PreAmp (NEW DESIGN)
- Custom Dual Coil Skjold Pickups
- Build completed in June, 2010
- Soft case included
According to Pete Skjold this bass was ordered in 2009 by a bassist in Canada. It was a custom model which he classified as the "Stage Series with several options and upgrades". (The body shape was based on the "92" body shape.)
He also said that this bass new would cost about $4200 (as of 2017). Probably closer to $5000 today.
