I had lived out in LA and SD for years; was good friends with Tim Bogert (Vanilla Fudge). Missed seeing him in the end (Covid restrictions) because I lived in Delaware the past 10 years to take care of my wife's parents. I had a friend in the CANG who lived in Agoura Hills nice place but lots of traffic like the rest of CA. Any way let me know it is a great bass, very clean and yes it sounds great!

I'm a Cali native...been in Agoura Hills for about 21 years. I love it here. Still giving some serious thought to the Kiesel...damn fine looking and sounding bass.

Hi! That is an LB75, not an LB5. May help with your listing! Great looking bass, GLWS!

Thanks for the correction! The dealer that I had gotten it from told me it was a LB5; I figured that he knew more than I did about it. I took it in trade against a 2001 Gibson LPR 59 6 months ago but my wife's after me to sell my music equipment after I turned 70 so here it is. Thank You!

Are you sure? They never made an lb5. They made a jb5. And an lb75. If I'm wrong, I'll learn something new today! Cab you share the source?

I think you should consult the carvin/ kiesel thread. Pretty sure they never made an lb5 and the dealer is wrong. Just a quick search for an lb5 really only turns up a couple old threads in forums where someone eventually corrects the poster about the actual model. :)

Update: I called Kiesel direct and they don't give that info out on the phone; he suggested to email their technical site. So I just wrote to Kiesel with the SN of the bass asking for info on it. I'll keep you informed, Thanks Bob

It's 100% an LB75. There is no such thing as an "LB5". All of those pictures are of other models. The first is a guitar which looks like an SH575. Several look like Vanquish basses. There's a Vader or 2 (including the lefty). The closest model name they have is JB5, but that is a jazz bass style which this is not. If you go to Carvin Museum online you can look back at LB75s going back 30+ years, which this is.

The dealer is mistaken. I've been following Carvin/Kiesel stuff since the early 90s, trust me on this. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they just meant "LB" (series) 5 (as in 5 string). The LB series contained 4, 5, and 6 string basses, mostly of the "7-" variety (ie 70, 75, and 76), plus the occasional LB20 and maybe a small handful of others at various times. They're all neck through, double cutaway basses, which could be ordered with various headstock styles over the years. A fretless would get an F after the number. A piezo pickup would get a P. 35" scale would get an X in place of the L (so presumably L is "long scale", although the SB series was just named after endorser Sekou Bunch). So an XB76FP would be a 35" scale fretless 6 string with a piezo (in addition to whatever magnetic pickups it had). I also own an LB76, an LB20F, and an AC75F. The main thing hearing back from Kiesel will get you after sending the serial might be an build list with the options codes, which will probably include one for the burl top, one for the matching headstock, RB for rounded body sides, one for the particular neck style, one for the ebony FB (that might be standard, don't remember off the top of my head), and probably a 50 for the Aguilar electronics (unless those were done after purchase). 50 is their catch all code for customer requested changes that aren't covered by their standard options listed on their website.

Sure looks like a second generation Icon 5 (IC5) to me after they redesigned the knob positions from a diamond layout...

Omega Monkey, Thanks for all that great info; I trust you more than that dealer! That was part of the reason that I changed the listing back to a LB75. I have a Carvin BB signature LB 4 string and a AC40FP fretless hollow body. I lived down in San Diego and also have about 5 of their Carvin amps (great for the price). Bravo Zulu to You! Bob

It's not an IC5 - the icon series bodies are more asymmetrical by the bridge, and, the lower horn is different. The bass in my avatar is an Icon (6 string). His is definitely an LB75. Kiesel changed the control layout on both the LBs and Icons to an arc.

gstatats, Thank you, that is why I now have it posted as a Kiesel LB75; still haven't hear back from Kiesel on the SN of the bass I sent them requesting assistance with its ID, "No Reply as yet"?

Oops, I did make one error myself in my post. I said I have an AC75F, when what I meant was an AC50F. I don't know why they did the acoustic basses differently than the solid bodies. Or maybe I just answered my own question (ie they did it so the 2 lines would be more obviously different).

Just so that there are no more questions about the model of this bass it is a 2018 Kiesel LB75 custom because they Kiesel installed the Aguilar AG 5SD-D4 Super Double Bass Pickups (additional $300.00 plus cost) and with Aguilar electronics 2-band active tone controls instead of their standard LB75 pickups. See the Kiesel build sheet photo!

"Gstaats" Thanks for the tip, Kiesel just got back to me and I put the build sheet photo as a posting! Did you call or email them to get that support?

Email ( https://www.kieselguitars.com/contact ), they wouldn't give the info out over the phone! So they will do custom work like putting in your pickups ( Aguilar AG 5SD-D4 Super Double Bass Pickups and with Aguilar electronics 2-band active tone controls) to their bass. Thanks again
