The GtG is tomorrow!
It's not too late to come. Even if you can't RSVP for sure, feel free to show up last minute and hang with us.

For those wishing to take public transportation (green line Kedize stop is close) but not comfortable to walking for 6 blocks by Garfield Park, arrangements can be made to meet you at the EL. If you need a lift (from home or EL) pm someone from the list below who noted as as offering rides.

The third annual Chicago talkbass Gtg will be Sunday April 14th
2-6PM
@ Serek Basses
2950 W Caroll
Ring for Serek at the intercom by the big green door.

Right now I am looking for attendees who can bring (in rough order of prioirity):
-Themselves early
help setup and cleanup which will from 1:30-2:00 and 6:00-6:30 respectively.
-A small guitar amp and maybe a guitar to share for the jam corner.
-Someone to bring markers and name tags.

At the GTG you can look forward too:
-Free Admission!
-A jam corner with a drumkit (drums already provided)
-A side room for trying out gear in a slightly quieter environment.
-Lots of TalkBassers to chat with and gear to try out.
-Snacks and drinks provided by attendees
-Day-of there will be $10 buy-in for food, probably pizza (maybe Lou's) and salad to be delivered.
-Jake Serek and Tim Seisser will be leading a discussion on luthiery.
-Some excellent Serek basses will be available to try out including a few that will probably be quite new to you all...
-Serek luthiers will be on hand for $30 setups if desired.

A few guidelines and suggestions:
-Please RSVP if possible so I know what to expect, but if you will only know last-minute, please come anyway!
-Folks outside of Talkbass are welcome. If you promote the word outside of TB let me know where and -if possible- who else will be coming.
-Due to the overlap in spaces, only small amps please. I want to see lots of amps and basses, however, we don't have a space where we can blast amps as last year and we want to be respectful of Serek's neighbors.
-Jake has generously said that other local luthiers and possibly other music product makers are welcome to come and show their wares. I don't want this to become a flea market though so if you are one and would like to do so, please PM me first for details.
-Any attendee is welcome to put a price tag on an instrument they bring or some note that it is available for sale.

Thanks guys!
Here's what I've got in mind:
1)I'll let the date poll ride for a week or so
2)Then I'll investigate venues.
3) If necessary I'll do some PM'ing for venue rental support
4)When I nail down a date and venue we'll start signing up for helping and bringing snacks and such.

Fantastic Scoops!

I'm going to let this stay up until Friday and then move to next steps. I'd encourage any of you who are willing to spread the word and put the event in your signatures.

I should be in, there's some variability as I may be out of town in mid-April (but maybe not). I should know more within a week or so.

Hey Folks,
I visited Jake Serek's shop this morning and it's a great space. It will be the location for this year's GTG. I'm going to give one final consideration of dates and in the next day or two we'll have a solid date for this year's GTG. If you haven't voted yet, this is your last chance.

Despite this being at Jake's shop, local luthiers and makers will still be welcome to show their wares within reason. I'll have some guidelines about that shortly.

This is going to be great!

i can't seem to change the title from my phone but check the first post for an official date (April 14th), time, and ways you can pitch in.

Hope you can make it!
