I wasn't quite sure how to list this, so project came to mind, the I simply changed it to "custom". The bass doesn't need anything to be considered a player, I would call it a project (and priced it low) because it isn't perfect. What it's lacking in perfection though, it makes up for in vibe.
This started out as a neck that I got in trade to fit on my BTB 405. The neck was apparently made locally out of Wenge and maple. The neck didn't come with a nut, so I had a new bone one cut, but I'll also include a spare one that I purchased (a factory nut for a BTB). The neck feels like a cross between the super slim of the BTB and a Warwick (possibly due to the unfinished Wenge). The side dots are in line with where the associated fret lines would be, which helps a lot.
The body was purchased off eBay and is from a Schecter Raiden that my son wanted to put a matte finish on. We dulled the finish using scotch brite pads, and I think it came out looking incredibly cool. The stock Schecter pickups sounded really awesome, so I never bothered to replace them. The controls are vol/blend/tone with the tone knob pulling for coil splitting of both pickups, so you can get a great "jazz bass" sound.
Currently strung with older LaBella tapewounds.
