So up for sale (for sale only, I have way too much gear I need to sell) is my 1999 Spector NS20005. This would have been just after Stuart got the OK to use the Double-S Spector logo again, as opposed to using the SSD name. Cherryburst over maple, neck-through, 35" scale, brass nut, dual EMG-Hz pickups and an EMG BTS 2-band preamp which has been modified to 18v. Please read detailed description below, as there are some minor dings and imperfections I want to make sure do not come as a surprise.
The bass plays and sounds great, nice articulate B-string in part from the 35" scale, but I'm sure the EMG pickups and preamp help with that. I love the look and feel of this bass, but I'm selling it since I so seldom play it since getting my 6-string Spector, I'm not big into ERB playing so one of them has to go.
Here's some sound samples I recorded with the EQ flat to give an idea of tones from the pickups/bass itself (I'm sure string choice is a factor, I list all important info on the soundcloud link)
One screw is missing from the cover, but the other 5 hold it just fine
The bass has vinyl inlay decals over the stock dots, these are made by creative-cuts on ebay, and can be removed with no damage to the bass if you don't want them.
The nut also tarnished slightly/the gold coating has come off a little bit as shown, and there seems to be some touch-up to the black paint along the edge of the nut. The B-string tuner feels a bit little tighter when tuning the string up compared to the other 4, but it feels minor and doesn't affect the tuning itself.
The top of the headstock has a few minor scrapes and dings
The black finish on the bridge saddles has bubbled slightly, and a previous owner scratched off the EMG logos poorly.
Please note there are a few small dings on the bottom near where your arm rests and the bridge, hard to photograph, unnoticeable from a few feet away, but they are there so i wanted to make it known:
Here's the control cavity, the BTS has been upped from 9V to 18V. The 2 dipswitches allow you to adjust the treble frequency, I currently have it in the lowest setting but can be adjusted per the EMG website's manual on the BTS preamp.
Price is $550 shipped in the Continental US, Paypal only. Local pickup would be discounted to $500. The bass ships in the old Spector case I got it in. Case doesn't have the Spector logo, but it matches the case from my NS-2A, so it might have been made before Stuart got the trademark rights back. It's a bit beat up on the back, but is solid.
