Here’s a rare Aria Pro II SB-Integra Prototype bass for sale. The SB Integra prototypes had the phenolic fretboard rather than the typical rosewood fretboard found on the later production models. The prototypes always had the “K” to start the serial numbers. Other differences included the prototypes having slightly different electronics and a type of scarf joint construction as opposed to a three piece neck on the production model.
This particular bass had the original electronics swapped out but it sounds very similar to the original. It’s a Hazlab Spector clone. It was shielded with copper tape as well. The pickups are still original, which I think are responsible for most of the tone. Another change is that it has strap locks - black “base” and chrome locks for the strap. The bottom strap position was changed at some point. The body on these was basswood according to catalogs and the necks are maple.
This Integra gets you the Billy Gould tone from Faith No More albums like Introduce Yourself and The Real Thing! If you like that tone, this bass gets it! I use a Zoom B3 and the “Bass Drive” setting (basically a Tech 21 model) which really brings out that tone. If you don’t have that pedal you can still dial in FNM tones with basic EQ tweaking.
I had the bass setup a couple years ago so it may need tweaking to your liking, but right now it plays and sounds great with a medium low action. It has D’Addario nickels (45-100) that have a lot of life left in them. The truss turns and the neck looks good although I cannot say it’s perfect - a bit of rise is starting to show but it plays really well! The frets show some moderate wear, I’m not hearing any unusual fret buzz with normal playing technique.
Cosmetically it has plenty of wear - scrapes, dents, chips, etc. Do not expect a pristine bass! My tech thought that maybe the finish shrank on the neck a bit so you can feel where the finish on the neck meets the fretboard. It’s nothing structural, just cosmetic. The truss rod cover is not original.
I’ll ship in a basic gig bag. USPS, FedEx, UPS (whoever has the best rate) with insurance.
