Double Bass Bags…

Can anyone compare the Gollihur bag to the Bobelock bag? I’m needing to replace an old TKL that lasted me a long time. I’ll be putting an old carved bass in it so padding is important. If you recommend another please let me know, my budget is about $400.

I had the Gollihur, I bought a Bobelock and liked it so much I bought a second one. Great case, lots of handles and pockets, very well padded, great price.

I have both. I don't think the Gollihur bag, useful as it is, is intended to be a direct replacement for a Bobelock. The latter has more padding. I always used the Gollihur for more of a "cover" than a true padded bag, because it is lighter. And, although this is very subjective, the long zipper on the Gollihur is on the opposite side compared to the Bobelock, and was inconvenient for me.

Gollihur is a fine bag for what it is - tho much less padded than Bobelock. Also, no shoulder strap. I'd consider the Gollihur fine for less frequent and less arduous travel. If you only put your bass in the back of your car for occasional practices/jams/gigs. But would likely go Bobelock if - say - touring regularly, or for a higher end instrument.

I am only comparing the Bobelock to the standard Gollihur case, I know nothing of the professional grade case. For the price, I would go with the Bobelock all day.

Thanks to all who replied. I’m unfamiliar with the Gewa which is the premium bag on the Gollihur site. If anyone uses that I’d love to hear about it.
